Newcastle troubadour Jake Houlsby has announced the release of his new single ‘Carousel’ for April 15th. Produced by the influential Mick Ross (Ajimal, Bridie Jackson and the Arbour), the carefully crafted ‘Carousel’ showcases Houlsby’s refined approach to the genre of folk. He uses traditional narratives similar to his decade spanning influences including Joni Mitchell and Sufjan Stevens. The track’s B-side ‘Sabinal’ sees Jake plumb darker depths of his song writing abilities with self-production contrasting the warmth of ‘Carousel’.
The anticipated track is the first new release since Houlsby’s critically acclaimed debut EP ‘Yannina’. The considered collection won support from influential publishers and radio stations including BBC 6Music’s Lauren Laverne, Crack In The Road and the 405. Jake successfully lived up to the promised potential he demonstrated after winning the distinguished Alan Hull Songwriting Award.
