Channel D follows the pre-Christmas unveiling of his new project with further music on 11th March. ‘Derelict’ follows ‘Birds When Disturbed’ in revealing a little more of the scope of his forthcoming album, ‘Unravelling’. A beguiling mix of low slung bass and nakedly honest lyrics consumed by doubt, ‘Derelict’ draws on Channel D’s incomparable talent for mixing uplifting melody with the darkest of atmospheres to create an English take on the widescreen Americana of the likes of Sparklehorse and Eels. With a brevity that seems magical, its 2 ½ minutes continue to develop a music of bleak beauty and intense intelligence.
The video for ‘Derelict’ marries this tale of doubt and internal struggle to a short film that dramatizes the internal anguish at the heart of the track. Directed by Lukasz Pytlik, whose previous work includes shorts for June Miller and Scott Matthews.
‘Derelict’ is released on 11th March 2016. Further music and films from Channel D will follow shortly alongside news on the release of ‘Unravelling’.
