Louis Kevin Celestin a.k.a Kaytranada’s production can often be hit and miss. ‘Leave Me Alone’, a sun-kissed number that leans itself to house tendencies reasserts Kaytranada’s underground credentials for pop music (yes, that is possible if you dismiss the technicalities).

Shay Lia’s vocals are interesting indeed, pitting an infectious and grin-inducing scat alongside a moody musical backing with off-kilter pads and constricted toms. It somehow works but it’s the succinct instrumentals that shine through for me and envelopes Louis’ common hip-hop proclivity into a somewhat uncustomary 4×4 cut.
