When it comes to festivals, there really isn’t much competition when you include London’s Lovebox Weekender. Year on year, Lovebox outdoes itself with sterling lineup’s that cater for everyone – this year is absolutely no different. For us, the performance of the weekend will be Nas performing the incredible Illmatic album in its entirety – an LP that could well go down as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.
The elusive BANKS joins the sonic hierarchy as quite possibly one of the most exciting artists in the world right now. This stream of electronic singer-songwriters taking over the nation at the moment is a brilliant response for the music industry. Fabricating technically sound production with vocals that haven’t been modified beyond recognition is what all music-lovers have been screaming out for and Lovebox have booked heaps of analogous artists.
The sudden rush of electronic music has forced festivals to solely focus on deejays and producers – which, if you’re into that sort of thing is great news. But, like us, if you’re looking for a real mixture of acts to catch throughout the day then Lovebox is your go-to festival. The Horrors, Katy B, Crystal Fighters, Bipolar Sunshine should occupy you until the dance machines take over.
The creme de la creme of electronic music is in full force over the weekend. Creator of last years Summer hit ‘Jack’ – Breach plays on the Saturday night. He’ll be joined by Hotflush head honcho – Scuba – as well as Bondax (live), Ben Pearce, Hercules & Love Affair, Huxley and Dense & Pika. Friday’s DJ roster includes the delightful BBC R1 host Annie Mac, UK charter Duke Dumont, Route 94, Ram Jam David Rodigan and Joy Orbison.
Obviously, Lovebox is backed by the most prolific brands with Red Bull (obviously!), FACT & Crack magazine, Noisey, Annie Mac Presents and Krankbrother – who are putting on some crazy parties all over the country this year.
You’ll not want to miss out on this party.
