Applebottom – Hey You People

Joe Arthur’s production style is amongst some of the finest around at the moment. Clearly affiliating his sound to a heavy-hitting swinging synth, ‘Hey You People’ like so many of his other productions, never follows the standard house format. I’m not quite the fan of the R&B influenced vocals in this track, especially when you compare his production to Deadboy – unsung master of all things R&B. That being said, Joe’s only 19 years old and the technique displayed here is phenomenal for someone his age. An unpredictable bassline comes as standard with Applebottom productions with its unrelenting pulse somewhat taking charge – this is a pure example of how bass should be implemented into a house record.
