Last night the Wu Tang Clan surprised their fans with their new single, the lead from the upcoming swansong album ‘A Better Tomorrow’. The album was supposed to be released last year to coincide with 20th anniversary of their first album, the brilliant Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), but had encountered problems with certain members not turning up or being fully committed. But here we are with new Wu Tang and what a great feeling it is.
Keep Watch’s production is handled by DJ Mathematics and Brooklyn singer-songwriter Nathaniel pops up with the Nate Dogg-style hook. The Wu Music Group website describes the track as a “classic 90′s Mono Beat, infused with lyrical dart throwing content”, and you can’t disagree. I love this track and all the verses on it are strong particularly Method Man who looked like he was coming back to form when he featured on A$AP MOB’s ‘Trillmatic at the end of last year. With everything moving forward toward the release of ‘A Better Tomorrow’, all we can ask for is more of the same, please.
