So Far In 2014: Top 10 Indie/Pop

10. Fickle Friends Swim
Hitting  the right sweet spot, we bring you Fickle Friends. A feel good five piece hailing from Brighton, UK. Describing their sound as ’80’s New-Wave Pop’ they have cited a sound that is similar to HAIM or a female fronted 1975. Although new to the scene, Fickle Friends have made a grand first impression with their single ‘Swim’; a delightfully, groovy record with infectious melodies and fruity guitar licks. Currently unsigned, it won’t be long before these guys are snapped up!

9. Pixel FixAwake
Coming in at no. 9 are Pixel Fix. An Oxfordshire quartet whose new tracks ‘Fall’ and ‘Awake’ have already received support from XFM and BBCR1. Ingeniously produced backing tracks combined with brawny drum beats and swirly guitar sounds drenched in reverb give Pixel Fix their unique style. Praised for their live performance, having already supported acts such as ‘Crystal Fighters, The 1975 and Little Comets, Pixel Fix will be supporting Young Kato on their UK 2014 tour.

8. Saint Raymond Young Blood
Nottingham based musicians ‘Saint Raymond’, also known as Callum Burrows is next at no 8. ‘Young Blood’ is the title track from his latest EP and has already been championed by Zane Lowe as one the ‘hottest records in the world’. A groovy record containing contagious melodies, beefy bass-lines and charming single-note guitar riffs give the track its charm and personality. Saint Raymond have already sold out club-shows and supported renowned artists such as HAIM in the UK, making both their 2014 UK tour schedule and live debut in North-America highly-anticipated.

7. CoastsA Rush of Blood
Bristol based band Coasts are our number 7 with their latest track ‘A Rush Of Blood’. Signed to Tidal Recordings, the 4 piece describe their style as ‘trop-pop’ and are known for their outstanding live performances. Intricate percussion mixed with crunchy guitars, pop-synths and thumping bass lines are topped off with Chris Caine’s distinctive vocals. ‘A Rush Of Blood’ is set to be released at the end of March, during their headline European tour.

6. Dive In Let Go
Next up are Glastonbury based band ‘Dive In’ with their debut single ‘Let Go’ released on Talking Shop Records. ‘Dive In’ have merged sparkly pianos,  with contemporary synth sounds and electronic drum pads into their line up to produce a dreamy vibe. Gutteridge’s distinctive vocals are like marmite – you either love or hate them, but for us, are the perfect topping to this magnificent track.
